Winston Churchill Quotes

Here are some of my favorite quote from Churchill:
-A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
-We are all worms. But I believe that I am a glow-worm.
-A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.
-A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen.
-A prisoner of war is a man who tries to kill you and fails, and then asks you not to kill him.

So there are millions more good ones out there, but I'll just leave it at here. Have a great week:)

Just a Little Something to Think About

You know those crazy people who tell you if you put your mind to something you can do anything? Well I here to tell that person to bugger off. I mean to say have you ever tried slamming a revolving door...hmmm...? It's absolutely impossible! Just something to thing about, :D, with this too, a FITNESS CENTER in AMERICA! This proves Americans are lazy.

School Started for Those of You Who Didn't Know!

Yeah...school did start, and so far my hardest/most annoying class is English. Can I pleaaaasee get a good English for ONCE! While last year's English teacher was like a grown up hippie child with her world peace talks that confused the heck outta you, this has us evaluating poems EVERYDAY!! Also she wants us to read a book before Oct. 13. Now usually I perfectly okay with reading a book before a deadline, but the teacher wants us just to read ONE SINGLE BOOK between now and then. I go through a book a day, if I'm not too overly busy. So the teacher is getting annoyed at me for reading all these books, and laughing as if I'm going to slow down (yeah right), and also believing that I'm not reading them, *sigh*. I straight out told her that I go through books fast, and yeah, I'm just rambling about a stupid teacher, sorry... :D

UFO's

Sorry....
A few weeks ago camping, miles away from anywhere, staring up at the amazingly clear, and starry night sky:
Collin: Did you know that UFO's only come out on Friday?
Me: Collin it is Friday.
Collin: Oh...

So...

Right, me and updating my blog, not really working...
Anyways since I have nothing new to write about, I really like the idea about my sister's new words.
New word of the month/whenever my sister gets bored of it: hooney (hoo-like boo-knee) No idea how to spell it, but I've always been a horrible speller, so what's one more word.
How to use hooney in a sentance...use it like you would with the word thing, or in Dutch, dingus.
So now after this completly worthless blog entry, instead of saying, well ordering, to your little sibling to, "Go and get that thingy, NO the other thing, not that one!" You can now say, " Go and get the hooney, NO the other hooney, not that one!" Or the word dingus, which as far as I can tell, by listening to my grandma is Dutch for thing. Anyways...if none of this has made any sense, sorry, but, boredom is a powerful thing, sorry Ais but I love that quote.

Umm...

This is kinda sad, but since I don't have much to complain about, I'm not writing ANYTHING here. Not that I'm complaining about my summer going well. Anyways just two-three more trips for summer left over, funalicous, sister's new word. Hey! that's what I can blog here, my sister's new word of the day, so far the most interesting that she loves to use is, bunky. A cross between funky and bouncy. I was about to say I have no idea where she gets these crazy ideas, when I figured out I do, she tends to get them while talking to me. Oops. Sorry for rambling. :)

Guess I'll just have to buy another one...:(

Summer

Well so far this summer I've been as busy as bee. My summer started straight out with a two week vacation to Ohio and that eastern area. Ended up in 4 different states and Canada (Niagara Falls) on that trip. Now that I'm back home, I get to repack my bags and go to Idaho and surrounding area. My whole June is booked, boredom is not allowed with my schedule, luckily.

ACK!

My computer's hating me!!! It won't turn on!! And I hate American Idol...not cuz I was rooting for either of the David's. My church activities are always on Wendsday, and we were making an aporns, and the hostess turned on the T.V. to watch American Idol. That was fine, since we always worked during the commercials, but everytime American Idol came back on, it was Drop Everything and Watch! URG!! Who cares about American Idol!? Plus there were only 2 sewing machines and irons for the WHOLE group!! What should of token 1 hour, actually took 3 hours!! And I still had homework! URG!

Stonehenge

So we've all heard of Stonehenge in Britain.
Well today I was bored and National Geographic was open to their new article about Stonehenge, quenching my natural thirst for ancient stuff like it, I started reading it.
Anyways scientist have now found early human migration (or something like that, they worded it a lot cooler) evidence around the area of Stonehenge. They've found about nine human sketal remains, one was from the Alps area of today, and the other the German/Swedish area, and for those of you that know this, but have never really thought about it...Stonehenge is in Britain and those sketal remains are 4,000 plus years old.
The article then went on to say they don't know, yet, what Stonehenge was built for, but some of the theories of why Stonehenge is there are...
1) Burial ground, they've found 250 plus remains and cremation evidence has been found along the banks of the nearby river, which at some time, flowed through Stonehenge.
2) Some big male god worship place
3) And one of the most interesting ones is... a healing ground/area whatever you wanna call it. Since most of the burial remains were there with a twisted leg, or torso injury, etc.
And sorry everyone, that my grammar is horrible in here (for those of you that care) but I'm wiped out. Just finished EOL's today, and 7 days till schools out!

Rollercoasters

So we've all been to an amusement park of some kind of another, well yesterday my family and I went to the local amusement park, and it was packed! We only got on a few rides before the heat became to unbearable. One of the rides we got on was the Fire Dragon. Well not me exactly, since I was getting a drink, but my family got on it. We all knew that earlier in the day it had been shut down for a short while, but now it was working again. Turns out my family was on the last ride of the day.
While they were getting on the ride, and after I had gotten my drink, I was waiting by the exit. And waiting, and waiting, finally they annouced that the ride was going to be closed, so people starting filing out through the entrance. But still my family didn't show up...as it turns out they had gotten stuck on the last ride of the day. So pretty hiliarous, since they then had climb off the ride and all that fun stuff, while I sat there laughing.

Creepy Old Man

Like I've said before, I'm a bookworm, and so I spend lots of hours at libraries and bookstores. My favorite bookstore being Barnes and Noble, I'll go there and read books that the library are slow to get. Today I was doing that again, and I was sitting in my usual spot so my mom could come and pick me up quickly. Of course they are other costumers there who are reading too. So it wasn't all that unusual when an old man (wasn't creepy, yet) came and dragged the chair beside me, away. Except for the fact that he dragged it in front of me, EXACTLY in front of me. I noticed it and thought it was odd, but it wasn't until later that I looked up and saw him staring at me. Starting to get creepy now, but I ignored it and pushed my book up further to block his face. The book was good, but the old geezer was starting to get creepy and annoying. So I got and wandered to another corner to the store, except all the other chairs were token, and when I got back to my orginal spot the old geezer was gone, so I sat down again. About fifteen minutes later the old guy came back, and went back to staring at me. Also I should mention that he smelt like coffee, which he was also drinking, and for all of those who don't know, I HATE COFFEE! A little while later it finally got annoying enough that I went and got a stool(since the chairs we still all being used), and sat down in the middle of an aisle. The creepy old stalker guy, then came and asked me about a bookstore a few cities away. Like I would know anything about stores in other cities that I hardly ever visit! I politely told him I had know idea, went back to my book and tried to think of a way to get him away from me, since he really stunk of coffee, and was REALLY creeping me out! Eventually he wandered away, and I finished my book, but still a creepy, afternoon ruiner, if Ms. Sides hadn't already messed it up. So a horrible day in all, and a creepy experince that I don't wish to experince again.

OMG!

I HAD TO GIVE A TALK DURING SACREMENT!!! Holy Crap, I was freaking out all morning, got like 4 hours of sleep last night. And had a majorily weird dream, that didn't help. And to top it off it's Mother's Day, and I just couldn't be happy for my mom since I was about to lose it. But now I'm okay, and get to enjoy a BBQ up at the park with my extended family, yes!

Orchestra

I love orchestra...yesterday in orchestra we had so much fun! If you stick 40 kids + 40 instruments, you have a large sometimes annoying orhestraing sound. Now stick an hour long lunch, the last period of the day, plus the very fact that it's Friday, plus the orginal equation, and you get very organized chaos! Which is exactly what happened on Friday in orchestra. It all started out as a mutual idea that we should play as loud and out of tune as possible. Then we started switching instruments between us as the teacher's back was tuned. Finally the teacher seemed to get the class under control. And you all have to know that Ms. P. the orchestra teacher is freaking awesome, then started us on our favorite song, St. Paul's Suite. In St. Paul's there are lots of solos, and Ms. P. often says to us to 'sing' the song, usually she means to play more...whatever the piece calls for. Yesterday we took it literally and we all started singing the movements. Well expect Ashlee and I who sat there laughing our heads off! Laughter truly is the best medicine!

Two city girls on a mountain road

Last night my mutual group went up by the 'B' to do some shooting, it was a first time shooting for most of us girls, and the road up there is a horrible bumpy, yet a very fun road. To top this all off, next to the road is cliffs, and then there's one bend with atleast six visible wrecks down below, called Deadman's Curve. On the way down, I came down in a different car, with two girls who were afraid of heights. I very kindly pointed out that we were coming up to Deadman's Curve, and I've never seen anyone freak out so much. I mean the only people that go off there, are the stupid people who speed down the mountain. And to add to the excitemnet even more they just HAD to rename the curve. So instead of Deadman's Curve it was Rainbow Bend, and the 'Path of Death' that one of the cars took down was renamed the Pony Express.
But I've seriously have never seen anyone freak out that much over a simple name...it was really...different.

Lunch Table Gossip

Lame Joke of the month:
What do May Flowers bring? -Pilgrims
Yeah I know stupid, but I bet it got a chuckle outta ya.

Kay, a few days ago at my lunch table, we were all talking about jobs we've had, and one of the girls started talking about the job she's getting this summer. Just so you all know she meant to say that she's working with her cousin who's making baby dolls. What she instead said was, she's working with her cousin who makes babies. Funniest thing of all is she had no idea why were all laughing. She eventually started going back through the conversation, you could basically see the wheels turing in her head. She finally figured out what she said, about the making babies part, and her face went BRIGHT red, all the way down to her eblows. One of the other girls tried rubbing it in, and she slapped the joker, which got us all laughing harder, since she's usually a pacifist.

...yeah just random boring stuff. Oh! Found out my cousin got mono, not sure how, but hopefully it's not from kissing people!

First Aid in the Home

Okay aren't boy scouts suppose to know first aid? If yes, then why did I know what to do when my little brother got stung by a bee? While he was rolling around on the ground, I knew enough (from Girl's Camp) to get mud for his foot (where he got stung). So for all of you that don't know what to do with bee stings you need...to elevate the stung area, and then stick mud, or some other soft and cold substance on it.

Finally! IT'S MAY!

You wouldn't believe what I saw when I woke up this morning!! SNOW! First day of May and there's snow on my back porch, who would believe that! And right now it's snowing, even more. My poor sister, when she woke up and saw the snow she almost died...she hates snow, cold, anything cold but ice cream and slushies, with a huge passion. But I thought I should share my excitement on here!! 29 MORE DAYS OF SCHOOL LEFT! YEAH!!!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

If April Showers Bring May Flowers, then why was it trying to snow today!! They last day of April and it tries to snow! What has the world come to!? But tomorrow it will be May! YES! Finally, I've been waiting forever for May, which means only a month of school left of the school year! YES!
On a side note I went to the orthadontist today for the yearly check-up they do, which I might want to add that my teeth are perfectly fine! But in the office they had the movie of Princess Bride on, which entertain me a lot, when I could see past the light. Anyways on the way home, my mom, sister and I got stuck in Rush hour, so we were on the subject of the movie of Princess Bride and somehow it reminded me of Monte Python and the Holy Grail (I think I spelled that right, I'm a horrible speller, sorry!), and I found out my mom hates that movie!!! My own mother hates it! Plus then it started trying to snow then! What a day!

Late-start :)

Yes! It's late-start! Two extra hours of sleep on a school day! And it's bright and sunny outside when I wake up, instead of the depressing, gray pre-dawn. Plus I have almost no homework but Math, and then today I have the first in school orchestra class since the festival, so we should be having a party! (hopefully) Of course one of the best things is that in English we finished with the vocab. book! Yes, no more annoying weekly test that I study for in the period before! Then to top it off, my brother's birthday is coming this Sunday and yeah...! Oh plus and hour lunch today, if I can survive Katie, but that's okay she can't ruin my happy day! :)

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

HUZZAH!!!

My orchestra made it to state! YEAH! But then it was a 4 hour round trip home on the bus! Then my bus got lost, two streets away from the school! :(

But still WE MADE IT TO STATE!

Been one of those weekends...

Kay I know some of you could agrue that the weekend offically starts on Saturday, but right now I'm gonna to agrue that it starts on Friday. Since so far my weekend has been the best and worst weekend ever!
First of all two early mornings in a row, really can take it out of ya. First one was the dress rehersal for my Orchestra Festival. Then in chemistry I found out that I did horrible on a test, and then sub. for chemistry started explaining a new idea, and it was Greek to me and everyone in the class. But in second period Ms. Sides the teacher had a meeting, and got a sub. (ususally they're completly wacky, like Sides), but no sub. turned up during the WHOLE period. And so no one had to take the test that was suppose to be on Friday. But World Civ. ruined it, by passing out the DBQ. Not that they're too hard. Then on Saturday I had my second early morning, making it two in a row, and this one I actually volutneered for! I was passing out water for the 2008 marathon. Which made us muscles that I probably am never going to ever use again. When you passed out cups you had to hold the cup at the bottom with your fingertips, and then hold your arm out away from you so the runners could run past and grab it out of your hand without slowing down. My arm killed, and also I got up at 3:30 A.M. for that?! But I did sneak two hours of sleep, by sleeping in the car during prepartions! Yes! My sister was annoyed at me for doing that, but hey she can be the goody-two-shoes if she wants, but I wanted to sleep! (I'm not a morning person.) When marathon started, we had to wait for about an hour for the runners to get to us, and then it was just a mass of people who all wanted water! Goodness, that was a mess. A controlled mess, but still a mess. Then all of sudden it was over, and we had a few hundred already poured water cups left over...what should we do with all that water? I thought pouring into the grass, or something productive (since we were in the middle of a park), but everyone else decided to have a water fight. Well...yeah, we've all have been in those... But after those two crazy days, I have nothing to do, so...I'm thinking banging my head on the wall might be a bit more entertaining than staring at the monitor!

I hate homework

It always seems like that in April that school starts to lose it's importance. Sleep and free time, of course, start gaining importance. And no matter how hard I try I can't seem to keep my mind on school...must be because there's roughly about 31 days of school left! YES! :)
What sucks is even though your mind starts to meander during school, somehow the teachers still stay on task! So they will of course continue assigning homework, and giving test with no end in site. *sigh* But I got really lucky a few days ago, in Chemistry we have a sub. this term, and that Monday happened to be a day where we had a test, the sub. started handing out the test and a few minutes later, lo and behold the 'B' test didn't have a second page! The sub had absolutely no idea what to do, and we got an extra day to study. Seems like I do have SOME good luck!!

Siblings...everyone probably knows what I'm talking about. Won't leave you alone for the tiniest second! Ugh! Being the oldest isn't always the greatest...

Stuid Moments Everyone has...

Have you ever been walking down the street somewhere to someplace, and waved at a seemingly famaliar car? And then as it goes past you realize you have no freaking idea who you just waved to?
In the neighborhood that I live in, there are two jeeps that look almost exactly the same, my family owns one, and then there's another family just a few houses down from mine that owns one!
So today when I was walking home from the bus stop, the other jeep drove by, and boy did I really wave, cuz I knew that my dad was home and could be driving our jeep, and maybe I could get a ride home. But as it turns out, it was the other family's jeep, and I looked like a complete idiot!

Bookworm

Kay, I'll admit it...I'm a complete and total bookworm, I've been meaning to stick these dates up for awhile:

May 20th: Pendragon, Raven Rise by: D.J. Machale
August 2nd: Twilight Series, Breaking Dawn by: Stephenie Meyer
September 9th: Heir Series, Dragon Heir by: Cinda Chima
September 20th: Inhertiance Series, Brsingr by: Chris Paloni

Just dates, that sequels for good series are coming out, yes, I know dorky, put I could stick up a lot more if you wanted. If you liked Harry Potter, you would probably like some of these too, but Harry Potter has dropped off my favorite list, so...

P.S. Unfortunately, the best series of all, just barely came out with a new book, so the author is writing the next book, and it won't be out for another year. But, hopefully James Patterson will quickly come out with another Maximum Ride book, the last one was WAY too short!!

...

Well, I'm feeling pretty happy for a long school day, with NO homework. It's like a miracle or something! Though history is now turing depressing, while English has just turned boring, luckily not depressing FOR the moment right now!
And then there's keeping track of friend's social lives...the biggest headache of all. First of all you have to keep track of whole likes who, or who's going out with who, or then you have the people that say they're never going to date. And since no one has caught my eye right now, I usually end up spending time withe the last group, which is interesting. If they're not talking about how the dating people are ditching their friends, they're then talking about depressing or just plain weird stuff. It just really takes it out of ya...

I hate schoolwork....

Three quizzes, one in chemistry, another in world civ., then the math quiz. Of course I had to take all honors this year... *Banging head on desk* Where was my brain when I was picking my classes. Then of course lovely Ms. Sides, who seems to have a mission to deprive all teens from a social life, had to make us perform Macbeth, the most depressing play in history, and I just love performing. (Kay, I know I sound depressing right now, but I really want to hit annoying people like the one standing next to me!) And on a happy note, my sister has finally started to do something with her hair. Besides sticking it in a pony, and leaving it there. Boring!

SNOW!?!

Almost the beginning of April and it snows! What has the world come to? And I had to get up early to let my lazy, crazy, snow/cold/wet-hating dog out in it. That was like trying to drag my little brother into a bath that last longer than 5 seconds. What a wonderful way to finish a weekend!
